I live a few miles from Doncaster, a large town in South Yorkshire dating back to Roman times. A prominent feature throughout the town is its main church, correctly known as “The Minster Church of Saint George”. It stands at the heart of the town, where a church has stood for over 8 centuries. The present church was built to the designs of George Gilbert Scott between 1854and 1858, after the medieval church was destroyed by fire in 1853.
I captured this scene in a number of photographs taken on a beautiful day in late summer. It is taken from beneath a large bridge over the River Don, a place not commonly visited by most citizens, except fishermen, who find it an ideal spot. My favourite dog, Oscar, makes another appearance, intently watching his master's casting skills. |
